Ed Holdsworth’s King Pylon is an environmentally aware super hero on a mission to educate humans about the state of our planet. He consists of electrical energy and is notoriously hard to locate, due to his habit of zapping at hi-speed between pylons, aerospace, and ancient under water sites. To gather the source material for the various electrical hums and crackles surrounding King Pylon, we went out to Walthamstow Marshes in London in the late night hours, positioning our microphones dangerously close to high-voltage pylons. The resulting material has been processed extensively, and mixed/morphed with other sounds. King Pylon's voice was processed to create a voice which sounds electric while being intelligible and compassionate. This has been achieved with a combination of modem sounds and advanced sound processing.
